My last blog was about what is wellness?
This one is about..
Why Wellness?

Perhaps to live consciously..
We often inherit ways of living, subconsciously, which means we not just knowingly pickup habits and values from our elders but also absorb unspoken words, actions and / or and unfinished emotions, feelings to become who we are today.
In the run, we live a life like theirs, not literally but through their lived & or un-lived experiences.
What then gets passed on to the next generation is not just values and discipline, but also these unacknowledged parts. Children absorb them as a normal part of upbringing, without ever questioning them.
Often, they ignored their feelings in the act of moving on. Most of them lived guided by cultural and parental conscience, with little room or choice to operate from a personal one. As a result, their emotions largely went unacknowledged - unknowingly, unintentionally.
Wellness begins the moment we pause and ask, “Am I living consciously or simply going with the flow”?
To pause and reflect on whether my life is being lived only through parental or cultural conscience - while my own sense of self remains dormant - is, in essence, the beginning of taking responsibility for my well-being.
At any given point, it is natural for us to view life through the lens of our upbringing. This lens gives us roots, stability, and a sense of belonging. But when lived unconsciously, without acknowledgment, it can also create imbalance.
This is where wellness becomes relevant.
Wellness begins with acknowledging our presence - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It is about recognising what lives within us, not to reject where we come from, but to understand how it continues to shape us.
And in this understanding lies a powerful truth: we do have a choice. A choice to live by our own conscience - without disregarding our parents’ or culture’s conscience. Perhaps, instead, by honouring it with awareness and love.
That, to me, is why wellness matters ~ to live consciously.
