I am no expert when it comes to facilitating sound baths and I mean it.

Priyanka, Founder of Sound Healing India, Sitting with the beautiful Sound Healing setup, singing bowls, gong and a peaceful environment

Because I have no answers for the outcome.

Will it heal you?

Will it make you feel calm?

Will you be able to sleep?

I honestly don’t have these answers.

Quite often, we talk about slowing down, relaxing, restoring the breath, and nervous system regulation through sound healing.

But have we, as facilitators, slowed down?

Do we consciously practice it?

How many times have we observed our own breath being restored with sound?

How many sound baths do we attend just to rest and relax?

What does nervous system regulation even mean?

I often wonder how we’ve come to such clear conclusions about the benefits of sound healing.

What I have genuinely seen and heard from participants is this:

“I tried sleeping… I think I did fall asleep once or twice, but I was going and coming back.”

“There were too many thoughts at the beginning. I could hear the sounds. And then there came a moment when I completely switched off from everything and disappeared.”

“I couldn’t surrender. I was wide awake throughout. I wasn’t thinking. I was just there.”

“I’m feeling lighter right now.”

“It feels as if all the stress was leaving on its own, like it was being released from my palms and feet.”

“I can feel the silence.”

“I feel calmer than before.”

“I have no idea why I am crying. It feels nice to let it go.”

I’ve had participants feel a deep sense of relief after the sound baths. They walk in to experience sound healing without really having any expectations. They are probably ready and willing to surrender to the power of sound, and what they experience is not something we ever analyse : they cry.

Tears flow, and it truly feels like a release. We let them flow. We let them be with those tears. We let them feel themselves fully. This is perhaps how they reconnect with the sensations within ~ with their inner sounds, their inner rhythm. That’s where they feel the calm, and I believe that’s also where they begin to restore their sense of belonging.

That’s why I always say : please come with zero expectations.

Allow the sounds to take over.

Let them show you a path.

Let them take you on a journey.

Be a traveller.

Let it all reveal itself to you.

As Wayne Dyer said,

“Have a mind that is open to everything and attached to nothing.”

I won’t promise a result.

But I will always promise to hold the space with all my heart.
